Iori Tomita, New World Transparent Specimens
“Ex-fisherman turned artist, Tomita transforms marine life with the technique of preserving and dyeing organism specimens… He first removes the scales and skin of the marine life that have been preserved in formaldehyde, then soaks it in a mixture of blue stain, ethyl alcohol and glacial acetic acid… The bones are then stained and the specimen is preserved in glycerin.”
